Newly re-established in 2016 after a long hiatus, Skule Choir is an SATB mixed chorus performing a wide range of music, from Baroque to contemporary classical, and from world music to folk songs. We’re open to all members of the university community regardless of field of study, and to singers of all backgrounds and levels of skill. You will be welcomed even if you’ve never sung in a choir, and solo opportunities are available for those with more experience.
For the 2016-7 school year, the Choir will rehearse every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30pm at Hart House. We will be holding an open rehearsal in the East Common Room on September 14th, and a Voice Placement Night will follow shortly, which everyone planning to join the choir should attend. We are also currently looking for a piano accompanist. For more information, feel free find us at the Engineering Clubs Fair on the afternoon of September 7th, or to contact us!
The Choir will be putting on two major concerts during the 2016-7 school year, one at the end of each semester, with the winter concert being in collaboration with the Brass Ring. As well, we will perform shorter programs at a number of other events: if you’re looking for live music at your event, please contact us.
All U of T students have free access to the Naxos Music Library, a huge online collection of thousands of CD's of mostly classical music. Check it out!
